ABOUT ME

0ECA68F7-F4CD-4FB5-BFE1-649FB8A13099.jpe

My name is Connor Rodenbeck and I was born in Aurora, Colorado. At the University of Denver I study English with a concentration in Creative Writing, Psychology, and Writing Practices. After DU, I hope to obtain an MFA in Creative Writing. Eventually, I want to enter a Creative Writing Ph.D. program that will give me the tools to stay in the realm of academia as a professor. I am also open to working in creative spaces and workshop settings outside of higher education.

I would describe my poetry and prose as an image-based dive into the complexities of intimacy with respect to a physical location, one’s body and what meaning it possesses, and the way memories and the present interact. I hope that my work will prompt readers to consider the reciprocal manner that they and the world interact to inform a larger picture of the human experience.

I have interned with Lighthouse Writer’s Workshop and the Denver Quarterly. I am also the Poetry Editor of Foothills, DU’s undergraduate literary magazine. In Spring 2021, a theater adaption of my short story Soak will be performed at DU.

While taking WRIT 3500, the Writing Capstone for the minor, I was asked to write a reflection about my writing over the course of the last three years at DU. Taking the time to reflect on the pieces in my portfolio has been fruitful in recognizing my growth as a writer.
